More about a hot breakfast

Knowing about my oatmeal struggles, my buddy Liz AKA The Good Eatah surprised me with a packet of instant quinoa! I have yet to try quinoa. I bought a bag of it a month or so ago and haven't been brave enough to cook it yet but this possible solution to my hot breakfast issue made me want to try it right away.

Instant Quinoa

Ok, I admit, I didn't like it! Quinoa is a very different taste and I think if I put a little effort into it, like I did with bananas, I'll eventually grow to like it. It's worth it, did you know quinoa is a complete protein? Liz warned me that I might not like it at first but I tried really hard to be open minded. I think I will keep at it though because it's definitely a good alternative to my beloved oatmeal. If you're interested in learning more about Alti Plano Gold instant quinoa you can find them here.

On another exciting note, I received my package from Shabtai Gourmet and I've already ripped into it and tried almost everything that they sent. Stay tuned for a review and photos either later today or tomorrow!

Yay that you tried it! Boo that is was no good! But yay that you're not giving up :)

I personally prefer quinoa prepared in a savory form, as opposed to sweet, so I can see where it wasn't to best. Also, the first time I tried quinoa I didn't like it either.

I am SO excited for your Shabtai Gourmet foods! Their meltaway crumb cookies are awesome (and aren't as high in sugar as a lot of their other products)!

Hi-I just stumbled across your blog and I wanted to tell you that Bob's Red Mill makes an absolutely delish gluten free hot cereal called Mighty Tasty Hot Cereal. Try it! It's good!

Hmmm, thanks Marilyn, I actually have a sample pack of it at home, I have been too afraid to try it but I'm actually going to go right now and make it. Thanks for the suggestion!!

I've seen the Bob's Mighty Tasty Hot Cereal in the store, but haven't tried it yet. I would love to hear what you think before I buy it!

hey! yeah -- i felt that way about quinoa the first time I ate it, didn't love it... but I did get used to it. i usually incorporate it in with pasta, just to eat less pasta because I could eat an entire box... it tastes good with sauce.

Also - did Shabtai sent you all that stuff for free?! That is so cool if they did... can't wait to read your reviews!! :)

happy friday!
