It's all good.

Well here it is Friday and I have not had even a spec of gluten since last Saturday. 6 days straight. I think it's finally sinking in and clicking. Every day that goes by it gets easier, the cravings aren't there anymore. This week I've also been avoiding gluten free alternatives, so I haven't had much of any grains at all. The first few days were a little rough, I wasn't eating enough to compensate for the lack of carbs and by Wednesday I was way out of it. But I made up for that yesterday and by last night I was feeling great. I had a lot of energy, my body felt awesome, it was very encouraging. But I didn't have a lot of food left in the house and I didn't make it out to the grocery store so today was a little rough. Yesterday I bought a box of Pamela's Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip cookies, I was craving a sweet treat after all the healthy stuff I'd been eating and I love those. Yesterday I only had two and it didn't bother me. Today I had 5 and it did. My stomach did not love that so much after a week full of clean and healthy foods. I'm feeling fine though and really enthusiastic about sticking to my gf/cf clean eating lifestyle. It definitely works for me.

Good for you. Perhaps five cookies just meant too much of a sweet thing and your tummy rebelled. You're doing great! Keep it up! Hugs

A few things:

Yay for feeling good! I totally know what you mean re: carbs. I get cranky if I don't make up for the calories.

Those potato chips sound awesome and I didn't know about the sodium/potassium thing: very cool!

And thanks for doing the meme! That's so cool about your hearing.. you're like a superhero.

And one more: missed you on Wednesday (and someone asked about you).

My go-to sweet snack: peanut butter on chocolate. Peanut butter cups will do, but I prefer a higher peanut butter ratio so I just get a 6-pack of chocolate bars and a jar of peanut butter. Easy, fast, filling, loaded with calories, cheap, tastes glorious, and is actually somewhat nutritious to boot. Just be careful not to overdo it; it's more filling than you think.

I do love peanut butter but I don't do well with chocolate so although this is one of my favorite snacks it doesn't really make me feel so good. :)

Yay, Jenny! The longer you stick with it, the better you'll feel, definitely. :)

Many gf people find they can't tolerate more than a certain amount of grains (even gf grains), period, for whatever reason, so you may be one of those.

Haha, 5 cookies. Sounds like me!

I know you have been trying to stay away from over-medicating, but pepto pills are what save me when I get a crummy tummy.

yeah once in a while a pepto pill is a must!!
