Wooooohooo I DID IT!!

Yesterday I started getting a sore throat and all I wanted to do was go home and eat ice cream to make it feel better. I had almost a full pint of coconut milk chocolate in B's freezer so I stopped by after work for a short visit and to take it home with me. By the time I got home it was 7 o'clock and it had been raining all day. I had not run since Saturday morning so I knew I really needed to get a run in but I really didn't want to. I sat and watched tv for a few minutes with my roommate but the itch to get my run in really started to creep up. Finally I decided to just get out there and do it. I was really nervous about this one, but felt ready to tackle it. I had a little pain my knees and calves still but I knew it would work itself out once I got warmed up. As you can see above, I had to write the intervals on my hand because I didn't think I'd remember them. Up until this point they had been easy to remember but there were too many of them this time. This worked out very well!

I set off for the 5 minute warmup walk, limping a little, but hoping for the best. By the time I was ready to for the first interval I was feeling better. I set off for the 3 minute run and I don't know how, but it was smooth sailing. I didn't even look at my watch and when I finally realized I really should check it, I looked at exactly the 3 minute mark. I felt awesome and was ready to tackle the 5 minute interval after the 90 second walk break. The 5 minute interval went great too! I was on cloud nine, smiling and rocking out to my ipod. Never in my life would I imagine I'd be enjoying a run like this! It was awesome. I finished the whole session without any issues, no cramps, my legs felt strong and I have no pain today. This program really works and I'm loving it!

5 minute warmup
3 minute run
90 second walk
5 minute run
2:30 walk
3 minute run
90 second walk
5 minute run
3 minute cool down

Total: 29:30
2.15 miles

Wow, I really hate running but that looks do-able! I love that it's broken up into small increments of time. Way to kick butt.
